Congrats Mel - what a beautiful guitar! Did you play this guitar at Deke's Festival? I thought I saw a pic of you with it in Vintage Guitar magazine last month.

Thanks for posting that demo, too. To my ears, those p'ups sound a little more true to the traditional Mosrite sound than the p'ups in my H60C. A little more rudeness and bite perhaps.

I agree with Veenture as far as the neck/bridge combo. That's generally my favorite combo on all my guitars.

Man oh man, does this forum give me GAS....

That's very cool, Mel! Especially that it still sounds uber cool through a digi-cam mic ;-).
Sounds like it has some good 'spanky twangi' tones in most variations. I'm thinking the compensated bridge does add to that kind of tone.

Or is that similar to your partsrite?

Mel,

Cool video. Are those the new pickups you got from Raygun? I don't remember that wiring configuration from before. How about calling it what it really is, a Grugett built custom purchased through Hallmark.

Thanks for all the compliments!

Yes, this is the guitar I played at the Deke fest. It was delivered in final form just about a week and a half in advance, so I hadn't had much time yet to dial it in.

I think the compensated bridge adds brightness and attack, which to me makes up for the lack of adjustability.

These are the original Hallmark handwound pickups. I wanted to get a video with them before I installed the M3 pickups - I wired those up last night and hope to get the guitar reassembled today. I'll get a video with those together soon.

Recording with the digicam mic is a pain. I've got the amp off to the side pointed at a file cabinet - it was the only way to get a level that worked for guitar that didn't distort too much.

As for what to call the guitar with it's complex provenence, I think MeshuggaMark is probably best. Sounds better than Meshuggruggett. :D

Since it is a mixture made with a Gruggett neck and body, Raygun p'ups, Mosrite vibrato and Waldorf unique wiring, how about making a 'Mel-Rite' logo with 'the Meshugga model' logo where normally is found 'the Ventures model and the star of David incircled where the 'M' logo is on a Mosrite'? ;)

You mean something like this?

It's not far from the truth - I've put this mockup on the headstock, I've got a decal on order :)

I got the M3California pickups installed, and they sound cool! I made a video, same issues as the last one :?

PS. anyone notice my t-shirt in the videos? subtle, right?

I love it, both the video and the logo. ;)

Get the logos made up and I'll sprayed the headstock black, apply the logos and seal them in clear.

Both of the pickups sound great. Now all we need is a video demo of the Ellison double neck :D
