Re: Bob Shade 60 Custom
I still see no signs of snow here on the East Coast, not sure why everyone is freaking out either. I mean, heck, we live in the North East, what do you expect? Don't make no never mind to me, good excuse to stay in, have a few drinks and play a few guitars, like the Hallmark Deke model I recently purchased. Everyone should support the 'ol Hallmarks, amazing guitars at a great price!

Bob S probably won't like me saying this, but you know how Semie said that "Mosrites Have Built-In Soul?"
I say that "Hallmarks Have Built-In Sass!"

Re: Bob Shade 60 Custom
Since we seem to have Mr. Shade's attention here, I have a question that really concerns everyone during this time of year.
Here in Charlotte, NC, I have the heat pump running almost constantly. What should I worry about as far as rapid humidity and temperature changes affecting the guitar? My real area of concern here is for the new finish (the guitar is 6 months old), and the neck relief.
Thanks,
Don

I know I ain't Bob, but what does the humidity get up to in there? I think you should be fine as long as it doesn't get much above 60%. I think you really only have to worry at all if it starts hitting 80-90%. Total dork here with two hygrometers in the house and humidifiers going through the Winter months.

Re: Bob Shade 60 Custom
That is an excellent question, Don.
My problem, which I never had in Florida, is lack of humidity when the heat is on in the winter.
I have humidifiers in all my acoustic guitars' cases, but hadn't thought about it being necessary in an electric guitar case until last week.
I had left my hand-made solidbody 5-string bass at a friend's studio the week before. This bass has a high-end Warmoth neck on it.
When I took it out of the case the following week, you could feel the fretends a bit on the sides of the neck.
I hate that.
So I guess I'll have to humidify the cases of everything I own.

Re: Bob Shade 60 Custom
Hey Guys!
The thing to keep in mind with all guitars in regards to humidity and temp. is, and this is very simple,........"they like to be in the same environment we do".
So, having said that, just as an example, a damp basement or cold or hot attic is NOT the place for your guitar. They like to be under a bed, in a closet, etc. If it's too cold, too hot, too humid, etc. you would be uncomfortable there, so your guitar is too. This is what leads to checking, necks needing to be re-adjusted, cracks, frets poping up, etc. Things you want to avoid with any guitar.
Hope this helps.

Re: Bob Shade 60 Custom
Thanks guys. This is what I expected to hear. The reason for the question was that two weeks ago my heat pump died. The temperature outside had dropper to 25 degrees and the house got very cold. Since I keep my guitars in their cases when i'm not playing them, that was where they stayed until I got the heat pump replaced a week later. A long, cold week later.
Thanks again all,
Don

Speaking of which, I just invested in a dehumidifier, yesterday. Low humidity is not a problem in Florida.

And on the subject of Bob I would like to thank him again for this as long as I finally have the image thing down.

Congrats El Tuce! Does that have a completely custom fretboard, or are the stock markers filled? Looks great!
