the eastwood hi-flyer is a copy of an univox hi-flyer. So basicly it's a copy of a copy. Hallmark makes copy of of mosrite model. Eastwood as with all of their products don't intent to make a 100% copy of things but more a modern interpretation of an classic model.
The hi-flyer for instance is based on the contours of a univox but has a setneck and a better bridge tuners etc. I have an Eastwood hiflyer bass (lefty and for sale

) and I did have about 2 or 3 unvox basses. Those univox are just a fraction of an eastwood. Over here in europe the univox don't have the status they seemed to have over in the states. I also have an eastwood map bas. It looks like a valco product but isn't a reissue at any means. I do think they make an marvelous quality for the price and the fact that lefty's are the same price then righty makes me like them even more.
But in your case I would definitaly go for a hallmark
