This guitar was scratch built by Bill Gruggett, and I asked for the classic brighter burst. On the stock 60 Custom, there isn't really room for a middle pickup as the bridge pickup is a bit farther from the bridge. You'll notice that on this one the bridge pickup is right up against the bridge.

Do you really get to use all those pup options during a gig?

Congrats!!!!!! Great looking guitar! Let us know if having 3 swtches next to each other is confusing. I think I would select the wrong combination occasionally. Sunburst is very unique. GAS is exploding isn't it?

Re: Custom Hallmark Custom
Well, I can give you an opinion on the guitar now - it's great. The neck is chunkier than a Mosrite, more like the standard Hallmark neck, but with speed frets. I wasn't sure at first how I'd like it, but I think it works well. It makes me wonder how much speed frets are maligned because of the Mosrite neck as opposed to the frets themselves. Either way, it's a neck that's easy to play fast, and with the super low action it takes a very light touch. It almost plays itself.
The pickups are hot, over 14K at the bridge, 13.5 at the middle and about 13 at the neck. The guitar is wired with an on/off switch for each pickup. I frequently used the neck + bridge, bridge, and bridge + middle combinations, sometimes all three, sometimes neck and sometimes neck + middle. I find this arrangement much easier to use than the on/off/on switches near the bridge on my Partsrite. The switches are big enough and far enough apart that switching on the fly seems pretty easy.
The mute is more of a dampener than a proper mute, but Bob's got it set up so that it actually stays engaged when you flip it up. So, while it doesn't mute the strings as much as, say, a Fender Jaguar mute, it also doesn't knock the strings sharp.

Thanks for that very constructive demo Mel! Now I also know how the "flipmute" works and sounds, thanks to you.MWaldorf wrote:Some sloppy webcam video of the different pickup combinations on the MeshuggaMark
I wouldn't use the word "sloppy" though...you focused on the subject 100% and did not flaunt your playing-talents like I've seen so many guitar players do in music stores and also on Youtube

OK, the neck- and bridge pickup combination is my absolute favourite Mosrite sound!

And the triple-pup image is just awesome
