MAHALOVITZ!

SHTICK: A shtick (Yiddish: schtick) is a comic theme or gimmick. "Shtick" is derived from the Yiddish word shtik, meaning "piece"; the closely-related German word Stück has the same meaning. The English word "piece" itself is also sometimes used in a similar context. Another variant is "bits of business" or just "bits"; comic mannerisms such as Laurel and Hardy's fiddling with their ties, or one of them looking into the camera shaking his head while the other one would ramble on. A shtick can also refer to an adopted persona, usually for comedy performances, that is maintained consistently (though not necessarily exclusively) across the performer's career.

"Just purchased Meshugga Beach Party's "20 Songs of the Chosen Surfers" CD and it is truly fine. A hip, toneful selection of exotic tune-age one does not readily associate with surf, played with great enthusiasm and skill. This reverbingly-dripping CD should be in every single surf music collection in our and neighbouring arms of the galactic spiral. Mel Waldorf is an exemplary guitar picker, and one with a grande sense of humour as well. Shecky and Tevye on percussion know how to do surf drumming, big time.

'Just purchsed "Let's Go Schleppin'" CD by Meshugga Beach party. It's much better than the above and should be in every surf CD collection at least two more galactic spiral arms further out. Mel is at gold medal level as a sumer Olympics Jewish-surf lead guitarist, eloquent and expressive. Karen on keyboards is amazing. You gotta hear this curly-locked musical goddess. Brooklyn, Treyf and Shecky do bass, guitar and drums just like really hot surf players ought to. Tight and truly spectacular. Every track is a winner.

Yes, the CDs were paid for and nobody asked for the review. Simply, they ARE THAT GOOD!

Go buy these CDs and sit down with a corned beef sarnie, chocolate phosphate and kosher pickle, and do a great big grinning listen. Then sling your Mosrite and light up the Fender tuber and play "Havah Nagila" or "If I Was A Rich Man" like a real mensch or maydele.
