Country Pickin' on my Mosrite

Postby leftyjay » Tue May 01, 2012 12:40 pm

I've recently uploaded a bunch of videos to youtube using my Mosrites. The recent uploads have the audio direct to video without the use of a microphone. no ambient noise. direct is definately the best way.

thought I'd post a couple pickin tunes with some hybrid picking and hammer on with some pull-offs :) both start off fairly simple, then I try to rip it up later in the songs

Steel Guitar Rag http://youtu.be/aP6Z847hMkA

Alabama Jubilee http://youtu.be/8-W5Nv9yy_M

I used my 2005 Fillmore Mosrite and a line 6 pod xt live effects pedal.

Wow, Jay; beautiful work! Melodic, perfectly paced, and with a lovely country flair.

I'm impressed!

Outstanding! For a minute I thought I was hearing Joe Maphis on Steel Guitar Rag.

thank you! i appreciate your comments.

i think the love for music of all kinds helps me with my style. its a bit of everybody i love to listen to, all mixed together. Nokie, Chet, Les Paul, Roy Clark, Maphis, Travis, as well as probably 50 others that I love to hear. if i can take a couple licks off of each one and use them in my material, thats quite a collection of ideas to feed off of.

i want to add that i didn't have the problem of the dreaded small neck issue with my mosrites. i play banjo, mandolin, classical, as well as many different models of guitars. i actually like the different neck sizes. it draws different ideas out of my playing.

i posted 15 videos with this guitar. i just wanted to bring attention to my pickin songs since there wasn't much out there on the internet.

Regarding the backing tracks that you are playing along with, are those tracks that you recorded yourself, or did you use software to remove the lead instrument?

these are my backing tracks. i made them in my sequencing keyboard workstation. i've been making my own BTs since the late 1980s. i'm well over 1000 songs now.

i dont have any computer software to create BTs with my laptop. All my tracks are stored thru midi devices and my keyboard.

i'm an ear player and chart out these songs in my own way. then i lay down the drums, then bass, then i decide whether to use piano or organ or strings to fill in the rhythm section.
