The Tsunami Surfers adds vocals

Postby dubtrub » Sat May 21, 2011 5:39 pm

Each time our band plays a gig we are always being asked to do some old time songs that were popular during the 50s & 60s. So, we decided to extend our set list to include songs that were popular during the time period of our classic surf/rock music. To hear an example of our three piece band and Daren's singing, click on the Tsunami Surfers logo below in my signature line and check out the five songs just added on our music page. These are not studio quality but live recordings so the mix isn't the best. We will be recording in the studio next week but until then these will give you an example of what we are doing.

..........and yes, being in Bakersfield we even threw in a country tune. ;)

You guys have a very full sound for a trio, and Daren is great on the vocals!

Very nice! The vocals sure added a nice element. Can I suggest Johnny B. Goode? I think Darren could totally nail that one.

Thanks! Daren does that one too. Actually we are working on around 25 oldies vocals all total. We are trying to keep them as toe tappers with a couple of slow ones in the mix. We did 'Only You' by the Platters (1955), at last nights rehearsal so we'll be adding it as well. I really didn't want to drift too far from our instrumental surf music but around here there is a bigger opportunity to play more gigs by adding vocals to our set.

Danny, that sounds great. Daren does a great job with the vocals and I for one like to hear some live music because I have been disappointed on more than one occasion with some PRO bands that couldn't come close to there studio version of there songs. Keep up the good work.

The band's growing and getting better all the time and I must say, Daren has a steady vocal singing ability -he even sounds like Buddy Holly :o
