The Cars are on tour for the next few weeks in support of their new album. I know the Mosrites appear in the videos, hopefully Elliot will bring them on stage! The wife and I have tickets to the show in Oakland this Friday, full report after.

Re: The Cars on tour
Hey, Mel--
Thanks for the heads-up concerning the Cars tour; they'll be at the 9:30 Club in DC on the 23rd.
Since my son works there, I could get tickets. It would be fun to meet Elliott, but I'm sure he'd have bigger fish to fry that night than meeting an old Mosrite fancier!

Mel, I also hope the Cars show up either on SNL or the David Letterman Show when they get to New York, since it's right across the
hall from the Roseland Ballroom. And like you said, maybe Elliot will be on stage with either 'Pearl' or his 'C.A.R.' (pun intended )

Just got back from seeing The Cars at the Fox Theater. Great show, though sadly no Mosrites to be seen. Ric played a pinstriped Gibson SG all night and Elliot switched between two of his signature SGs and a Tele with a Jazzmaster pickup at the neck.

Ben Orr, the bass player, passed away in 2000. They used preprogrammed bass. You can see in the second picture how the drummer, David Robinson, is wearing headphone - he was playing along to a click track to keep in sync with the bass. There were two songs where Greg Hawkes stepped away from the keyboards to play bass, but I don't remember which they were. For those the keyboard parts were programmed.
It was seemless in the performance and I thought it was a very nice tribute to Ben to have the bass set up on stage.
