Double neck tracing needed

Postby dubtrub » Thu Jan 01, 2009 10:28 pm

Well, I've waited now forever for a 'certain member' to send me a tracing of his double neck Mosrite but apparently he has forgotten and no longer visits the forum. So, if anyone has a double neck that I could impose on to draw a tracing outline of the body, I'd greatly appreciate it. I'm gearing up for my next build and haven't decided whether to make a mistake plate Joe Maphis single neck or double neck. I'm leaning towards a double. Contact me via pm if you can provide a drawing.

Bushers? ;)

Hey Danny, Go for the Double-Neck, everybody needs at least
one Double-Neck in there arsenal. If you need help with the
pickups I have a pair of the original 61-62 Mosrite Joe Maphis model
Dog-Eared pickups (Some Folks call'em 59s but I'm pretty sure they were made in 61 or 62)
Anyway, I made a mold off the original Dog-Eared covers, so I can whip you up a set of '59
style Mosrite pickups at anytime.
If you get a good tracing of a Mosrite Double-neck, I'd like a copy too.
Eddy.

Without a double neck body shape myself to replicate it would be pure guess work and judging how far off I was initially with my first stab at my VII model, you wouldnt want a guess!! I can send you the VII I have though?

Danny,
Any chance you might be able to get a tracing at the Guitar Geek Festival? I imagine there might be some double necks on display there.

Which Dimensions or Equation do you need? And from which Doubleneck Body?

Dennis,

I was hoping to get a drawing of this guitar or at least a pre production model. I don't know if this is the same dimensions as the production JM model or not. I may just go with the production pattern and replicate the hardware and appointments of this earlier version. Maybe Artie has something I can trace.

Danny, I believe the 2 Bodies are different although they are VERY CLOSE.
Check out the upper horns (bass side). Damon's '63 upper horn doesn't seem to
recede back into the body as much as the JM Production does. I don't know if that's
because of the glued in necks, bit I do see some difference in the shape..... :|

I agree the bodies are very similar. Not having ever handled one it's difficult to say, but visually it appears the 'Bobby' guitar has slightly smaller dimensions. I have several photo's of double necks both pre & production models and the 'pre' all seem to be slightly smaller. Maybe somebody will step up to the plate.

Seeing how the long anticipated miracle apparently isn't going to materialize, a garbage bag would be greatly appreciated. ;)
