Hi there, I a a new member here who has been lurking around for some time.
There is a clip somewhere on this site with a Japanese guy getting a really nice thick semi out of phase sound from his Mosrite. My Excellent clone sounds great but does not have this tone in the middle position. I've played a round a lot with the pickup heights.
Can anyone recommend anything I can do to get that certain sound?

Simply reverse to two lead wires from the rear pickup (which is the hottest of the two) where it attaches at the 3-way switch.

Wow that was fast. thanks Danny,
While I'm under the hood do you have any more tune ups I can/should do.
Is there a way to eliminate the muddy sound when rolling back the volume?
I'm working on a stock "Mosrite" Excellent.

You may want to check the value of the volume potentiometer. Most Excellents have 500K pots, but some apparently had 250Ks (mine did) I put in a 1Meg pot and the overall sound brightened as well as staying more consistent when I rolled the volume knob.
