Postby LarsL » Fri Jul 01, 2016 10:58 pm

Hey guys.
Tech question:
Im thinkin about getting a mosrite style build but with bigger and wider neck(50s gib)
Will the mosrite vibramute trem work with the wider string spacing?

Well it depends on what you mean by working.

The spacing is non adjustable so it will still have the Mosrite spacing for the thin neck profile.

You may consider a Hallmark guitar or the Hallmark bridge and vibrato sold separately. The spacing is a tad wider on the Hallmark.

If you are doing this because of easier fretting because of the wider string spacing, I suggest NOT doing that. I am a firm believer that string spacing IMHO, Should be a non issue. When I started playing I wasn't even aware that strings have different spacing. Now I have no problem playing any spacing, so in my case ignorance was bliss. If that is your issue, just keep practicing with the standard Mosrite pattern. You can move up and down a guitar neck, and nail a specific string at a specific fret, without looking, how can a few thousandths of an inch matter in the spacing, think about it.
If he installed a wider spaced Zero fret nut, that might make for an almost straight string pattern up the neck.
Many will disagree, but many will also agree.

Its not because of ignorance.
I like bigger necks more. Funny thing is that i also like mosrite guitars. Sound and shape.
I would therefore love a mosrite style build with a neck thats more me.
Also, a bigger neck, the bigger the tone. Imo

And if i get my luthier to make a clone, shure i will tell him to make the neck profile he has done On my other guitars. Therefore the question.. Is there any trem that will work. Will a wider bridge work with a Mos trem?

Are the pickup magnet spacing the same as others or are they different also to match the smaller string spacing?

Larst;
I made one, Danny Ellison also made one. Mine was same dimensions as original.
I took quite awhile to make it. Maybe Bob could make one with a wider string spacing.
I didn't mean to imply in any way that you were ignorant, I said in MY case My ignorance was bliss.
Now I can play any width nut without thinking about it.

I know what you mean.
But i like my necks On the chunky side.
And like the looks of the "fullsize" mosrite trem where the plate holds the bridge also. Not the ones where the trem and bridge is seperate.
I know... Im picky... Laughs.
Anyway, the bridge On that kind of setup is removeable so it should be ok to change to a different bridge only. Cant be that big of a deal that the string spacing is Slightly different from trem to bridge.
I think...

Get a Hallmark!!!!

For real. Mosrite style build, but neck more like a Gibson. I have four Gibsons, and I can jump right to my Hallmark and my left hand barely notices any difference.

Plus, Bob is a cool dude. 8-)
