I've got a nice highly figured walnut billet for a top on the rack. I haven't decided what to use it for yet . It'll be gorgeous when it's book matched. It's great to work with. It machines nicely, and is very consistent. I haven't made a neck for a six string with it yet. I will though soon.

People finish Gunstocks with Truoil. Did you use is on the neck, if so how does is feel? How many coats did you apply, and how did you apply it? Rub it in by hand? So many questions, I know. Thanks.

I use it on all of my necks. The feel is great. There's no instantaneous gratification involved. It takes many, many coats. I use coffee filters to apply the finish. It's a simple process, just takes some time.

Welcome, Those musical instruments look grand. The natural finish on the bass reminds me of the Foxfire books a bit.

Thanks Dennis.

I started by making a router template for the first cut. I made that cut with a 1/2" core bit.

The first cut located the depth, and the inside boundary of the carve. I then drew the profile on the top of the body, and finished it with a rotary burr in a die grinder, chisel's, and gouge's. This was my first effort at a german carve, but it worked out pretty well.
