I saw on another post that the neck angle is supposed to be 2 degrees. How would I measure that?

By using a protractor.

Thanks. I'm obviously new to this and have many questions. I'm sorry if they are too basic, but I can't pass up the opportunity to learn from so many knowledgebale people.
Thanks for your advice (and patience!)

				Dantana,
No question is too basic or too obvious. Frankly, I've never seen a protractor with a ruler attached like that. Pretty cool device.

Never feel reluctant to ask or answer a question. That's what this board is all about. Sharing and learning.

OK. I found the tool, a carpenter protractor, at the local hardware store. However, I'm still not sure how I can make the measurement.

It seems like I would have to have the tool stuck between the neck pocket and the neck to get an accurate measurement.

If you have a neck and just want to find the angle of the mounting base, with the protractor set at 90 degrees, lay it along side the neck aligning the straight side of the arched part with the fret board where it is glued to the neck. Use a piece if making tape on the side if the neck so you can draw a straight line on it. Now with the protractor aligned 90 degrees along the bottom edge of the fretboard, draw a line down along the straight edge of the ruler to the bottom edge of the neck. Using the protractor laying on the side of the neck you just drawn, move the protractor to a position it so you can use that straight 90 degree line as a guide to square the protractor and find the angle of the bottom base of the neck. Practice with it, you'll figure it out.
