Hey Gang,
Sorry for not posting lately due to health issues with my family, but I had to inform the Forum
that a Mo' will be shown on the 'History Channel' tonight at 9 PM (Eastern time). For those of you
who follow or watch "American Restorations," this is where we will see the guitar. Since there is
a lot of 'restorations' and projects being conducted on this Forum, I just thought 'the Family' might
enjoy viewing this tonite...... ....God I hope this is a good episode.....

I happened upon this AR Mosrite episode yesterday and it was quite good - a bit fake but quite good. The story is that the Rick's wife (Rick is the owner of the restoration biz in Las Vegas) obtained (Ebay I'm guessing)a beat up guitar and wants Rick to restore it as a present for her son's b-day (18, 19 or 20 I'm guessin'). Rick is very hesitant to take on the project having no experience with geetars. His wife threatens to 'have a headache' that evening if Rick doesn't restore the guitar. The guitar is a '66 Mosrite with all it's parts in tact but with a well beat finish around the body. Rick takes the guitar to Ed Roman guitars for advice. They're pretty straight with him tellin' him what it is and what needs to be done. Rick does the job and it looks great.

As to what I find fake: They make it seem as if Rick's wife arbitrarily chose a Mosrite. When the kid gets the guitar, he lays right into "Walk Don't Run". My guess is that the kid was fishin' around Ebay and told Mom to get this Mosrite.

If you also notice, The dude at Ed Romans points out the tremolo arm is in great shape, as is the other parts, But it's not the proper arm, and gets replaced.
My take, and I'm a very untrusting butt. Rick had Ed Roman's shop do the restoration, and they probably swapped out the original parts for repo parts. The burst was not done very well either. One more thing, has ANYONE ever had cellulose binding Flame out on them ?

Well, actually yes... ...after I've dipped it in gasoline and set it on fire with a Zippo... .

They probably couldn't show the deconstruction and flame out due to the PG rating of the show! I can't wait for the R rated version on DVD!

I'll have to watch closer next time but Walk Don't Run sounded like it was dubbed in.

early pic of the Ventures playing their....?.... ....Can we say the "F" word??

I actually liked "American Restoration", at times though, frustrating on how they did things, and how they usually overcharged. Now they are just getting Cheesy with the headache joke etc.
I can say one thing, I bet Rick got a taste of his own medicine when Roman's shop presented the restoration bill for the guitar. I bet $3000.00.
Then I wonder if he swapped it for a reproduction Mosrite.
Sorry everyone I'm just not a trusting soul when it comes to stuff like this. I mark my stuff in a fashion that only I would know to insure the original gets returned. Years ago I had a Toyota dealer do an oil change. The new filter had a scratch, in the exact same spot as the old filter ??? My Mom took here Blazer in to have a electric fuel pump replaced. At $400.00. After about a month, the pump quit again. I crawled under to check things out, the straps on the gas tank still had the undercoat on the bolts. No way the tank was removed, and that's the only way to replace the fuel pump. He just got it working, and hoped it lasted. The next time he had to replace the pump Free, so he didn't come out ahead.
