tremolo disassembly

Postby bearsbyte » Tue Oct 18, 2011 1:10 pm

Hi everyone, I'm finally getting around to cleaning up the metal on my 65 ventures. A question- how do I take apart the tremolo? It looks like little roller bearings & I'm not sure how to proceed. I thank you for any help.

dont take it apart if you dont have to. You might be able to clean it up with a carburetor type spray, blow it dry and then put fresh lube in the bearings, if it feels smooth, it should be fine. If the torrington bearings are shot, you pull them with what is called a blind bearing puller. The last time I tried to order these bearings , I could not get them (B 42 i think). I did not try online however.

Thanks, It operates fine. I just wanted to make it easier to clean. I'll leave it alone, it will just take a little more effort to make it pretty! Thanks again

The torrington bearings for the vibramute and the moseley tailpieces are Torrington B-36 just for clarification

I've never been able to figure out how to take mine apart, and quite frankly was affriad to try. but I'd sure love to see a step by step process of one doing so.
Cheers,
