Hi Dan,

here are your pictures; I put the bobbin with the magnets in the pickup cover so you can see which side is the pickup's up side... The needle points at north, so the up side is the north side here.

Max: Many thanks for the drawing! I'm going to keep a copy in my pickup book.

from the sources I've heard from this is pretty much exactly how the slab body ventures 2 pickups were made, although I've never seen it for myself. the slab body models were wound to about 7k.

Hi Dan,
yes, that's true and therefore SOUTH is up here – and attracting the compass needle's NORTH pole.
What I wrote in 2011 was wrong as I thought I had to read the compass as on a field trip (needle's north pole pointing at earth's north pole) – therefore the correction.
I think normally Mosrite pickups should have the south up, but it would not be Mosrite if such a rule would not have its exceptions ;) Some results:
- 66 Ventures II: South up
- 66 or 67 Celebrity: North up
- 71 Mark I: North up
- 89 or 90 Nokie: North up
- Bob Shade custom made Slab pickups: South up
- M3 B-100 bass pickups: South up

Max, the photos have vanished. Could you please re-upload the dimensions of the Ventures II Slab pickup?
