Mosrite pups -> P90?
I've been wondering about this for a while. How come so many people refer to the vintage Mosrite pups as P90s? From what I understand they were built around the same principles (the entire coil one magnetic-field, the polepieces are non-magnetic screws). But they don't sound the same.....Mosrites pups seem to sound louder/hotter and have more twang than the Gibson kinda P90 sound I'm familiar with.

Keep in mind that Jazzmaster pickups also get referred to as P90s, but not by the cogniscenti. However, I think that in general the Mosrite pickups do share at least basic construction format with P90s - magnets underneath a wire coil wrapped around the pole screws. Hopefully someone with more knowledge of pickup construction can provide more details.

Re: Mosrite pups -> P90?
I think the general public is "tagging" an incorrect Generic Term for this,
but who's going to stop them? I also believe that the Mosrite Pickup
looked alot like the P-90, but with a Pickup ring around it. For a while,
Gibson had actually started putting pickup rings on their P-90s in the early
70s, and I think this might be where this originally started, but just my guess.

I'd like to know if Mark V pickups are weaker than Mark I pickups as well.
Also, What are the Mark II Pickups like when not distorted?
