Hey guys i have been in love with these guitars for years and after 2 opportunities to buy one and not doing it for various reasons... I come to now and i have this lust to get one.
Has anyone here played one?
what is the neck like? mosrite-ish??
Pickups any good???
Trem work well??
what is a reasonable price to pay for one?

On a side note Tym Guitars made copies of these LG150's called a Mosrong it was very cool but i never bought one of those just 2 other tym guitars.

I've not played a Guyatone, but for my money you can't beat the Hallmark custom 60 for a Mosrite clone.....I used to have a Mosrite, but traded it in --- ---but I'm loving my Hallmark, and I believe it plays, looks, and sounds every bit as good as my Mosrite and perhaps better.....
Not to discourage you from the Guyatone....just sayin' .......

That's a stylish guitar and attractive in both the red and white. Are these still made or are you looking for a '60s one?

The only one I see on the US eBay is offered from Australia (it's a red one), and the buy-it-now price is AU $1,250.00 (approximately US $1,266.75).

Seems pricey to me.

I gotta say that is an amazingly cool looking guitar. The era that was built saw many of those 'wacky' shapes. Guyatone may not be a brand I would dosh out $1200+ for, but it certainly may be worth this kind of money to a collector.
I imagine the trem will function like the ones on the German Klira guitars did. They are comparable to 7ender's Jazzmaster trems I believe.

These brands like Guyatone and Teisco and Klira are all the rage in Europe at the moment, people paying ridiculous prices for those. Some even favor the plywood ones to the 'real' wood ones. Dunno... A fad that'll blow over soon I think.
Buddy of mine used to own one of these and we used to make fun of him for playing it

he bought it mailorder in the early, early 80s for 100 dutch guilders (remember those Veenture?) maybe less even, on a guitar show I visited last september somebody wanted €500 for it. ...and sold it... That's a 900% mark up for a plywood guitar.
What was my point? I forget...

My first guitar, in 1966, was one of those Silvertone 1436 models, made by Teisco. An abomination and I was too ignorant to realize that the abysmal action was holding me back. Plus, the only strings available in Apalachicola, Florida, in those days were heavy-gauge Black Diamonds from the Rexall drugstore.

Ten years later, I tried setting it up properly to use as a backup guitar, but it was just not stable. After not being able to sell it for $15 at a yard sale, I gave it to the guy across the street who needed an electric guitar as a prop for a play his wife was in.

For that purpose, it would be great. Not sure if mine was typical of the breed.

Hey Jim agreed that's took pricy!! I saw them in Tokyo for $300-500, and every now and then tym sells one for $500-900, red is the usual color but white I have only seen once at a punk rock gig.

There is something about this shape that makes it look modern yet 60's ... I think someone needs to reissue these with a jag/jazz trem...

I played one of the reissues by eastwood ... they were ok but cheap feeling necks...

I have the 127, it's not as cool looking as the 150, but the pickups are much nicer. The necks are pretty much the same, rounded and narrow. Quite good for my little hands.

I've also got a 1960's Hummingbird that needs attention, the 150 is a little more lop-sided and has rounder horns than the Hummingbird, otherwise they're really close in looks. The pickups are p90ish, but I suspect mine may not be original, though they are old.

The neck on the Hummingbird is similar to a fat Les Paul neck in feel.

All of these guitars look superior in white vs red.
That red one which keeps popping up on ebay is near me actually.
