Custom guitar inquiry

I have been thinking a lot lately about selling my JR signature guitar. As much as I like it (and I really do like it), I just feel a bit weird playing "someone else's" guitar. Coincidentally, I've been wanting a custom guitar for quite some time now. And If I do decide to part ways with the JR signature it leaves me with some money to spend. So, with there being some options in who to contract with the construction of my dream guitar. I figured it would be good to consult you guys, the professionals, on who might be best suited for the job. :)

This is basically what I'm looking for finish wise: Image Image

I (try to) play lots of stuff, surf, soul, blues, funk and such, but mostly I play classic Rock-type stuff. (In the MC5, AC/DC, Kiss and Zeppelin, overall 60's/70's gain-department) So versatility is an absolute +. I am also looking for some more sustain on the higher frets. With the neck I'm thinking about having it be slightly wider than normal Mosrite-style but still as thin and fast with that great low action.

That's it I think. :) So, any idea who I should turn to? Sincerely appreciate your input. - John

If you can afford it, first names that come to mind are professional guitar builders such as Ed Elliott  http://www.efelliottguitars.com/
and TerryTNM  http://www.bobsyouruncle.net/TNM_Guitars/tnmpage.htm
Both gentlemen are members here ;)

Oigun may be a little closer for you. He is a member on this forum and does top quality work. Also if you do a search on the forum he has several projects he's chronicled from beginning to end. Here's his website. http://www.guncustoms.nl/

Any of the people that have already been list are great makers. Of those you should check TNM Guitars for a earlier take on some of Semie creations, Terry has made some incredible Instruments.

Thanks for all the input so far!

I am a big fan of all the people listed.

Terrys work is AMAZING, although, probably a bit too pricey for me. But I'm positive you get what you pay for.
Ed Elliots instruments are also very very impressive, I love what he did with ElTwangs guitar.
Other thoughts? Bob Shade? M3 California?

You really ought to check Oigun out. If you can wait that long, I'll (most probably) be in Hässleholm in februari to visit the guitar show there (min kompis Fredrik organiserar den där mässe http://www.guitarshowsouth.se) and if you like I'll bring my GUN Mo' (and some other GUN delights). It's a lefty so you might not be able to feel it up as much as you like but you'll be able to check out Oiguns workmanship up close.

Sorry I didn't mention Oigun in my previous post. I had a train to catch and just didn't have time to finish it. Oiguns stuff does look amazing. February might be a little too long to wait, but I might swing by anyways and say hello. :) Oigun just might be the man for the job, as I heard he operates out of Amsterdam, which makes shipping costs lower, or I might just swing by and pick it up myself as I have friends there who'd be fun to visit. Great place. :) How much did you pay for your lefty Olav? And how did the bridge-buzzing problem work out for you?

Regards! - John

Also, I know it's been said a million times, but still. This is probably the greatest guitar forum in the world.

Have you contacted Bob Shade. Hallmark does custom orders if I remember correctly.
