Short scale in bass terms is anything till around 30" Medium scale till about 34"all the rest is long scale zo I thought. 24" old supro/national basses for example or the 2',5" of the mosrite is something refered to as ultra short scale.

I have owned a 24" scale shorties once but couldn't get the string tension right for me. 30"is in my opinion the best scale lenght for a bassguitar.

And by the way. Man I loved this bass. Can't wait to see it finished.

Welcome Saf :D
Danny or anyone what is the exact post spacing of the bridge. I purchased some metal for the bridge and coverplate.I decided to make the bridge out of steel the "retainers" out of brass and the stoptail from aluminum. All metal parst will be nickel plated. The bridge cover will be 2mm steelplate. Anyone has any clue of it dimentions? (dementions :D )
All your help is highly appreciated!

Ok, I just made a paper tracing (then photographed it) of the cover on my 72. The cover is made of brass then plated, a magnet won't stick to it. The bended area looks to be 1/8" or 1/4" roll bends not sharp bends. There is a 1/2" thick piece of foam rubber glued to the underside to help with dampening the strings. I've seen this on most all Mosrite basses so I guess it's a factory thing.

Sorry to say it's not. A forumbuddie on the Dutch board where I 'met' Oigun liked the build Oi was doing for me so much he kinda 'commisioned' The GUNman to build him a bass-guitar.
But wouldn't that be great if the guy and I formed a band with matching lefty GUNs?
Maybe a lefty drummer?
I'm wondering if Oigun could build a drumset?

oigun wrote:A lefthanded drumset? How do you call that band? AWKWARD?

heck yeah and we do the bandlogo on the basedrum, backdrop and Merch in mirror wirting! Being a screen printer/sign maker that's no problem at all.

But the colors won't match because the bass is gonna be blue.

Thanks guys!

I've purchased some metal goodies to piece together the bridge etc.
Image
Made a start on the german -carve I use a scraperblade that i cut out of an old saw.
Image
Prepped the neck put in the trussrod and glued the fingerboard.
Image
Shaped the neck
Image
For the transitions i use a rasp
Image
The long planes I do with a spoke-shave
Image
Its essential to do this bare feet.
Image
I just scibe several times sthe tangetial lines for the profile I need. Most of the time its just split the planes in two.
After that I use a scraperblade to refine the shape and control it wit a little sunlight. Then I smooth the whole neck with sandpaper p100. Before I start the finishing I sand it again with a finer course sandpaper. Now its not sensible because I first need to fret/fit etc.

Great photos! I particularly like the bare foot shot. It looks like you need a shorter bench because you're on your tippy toes.
