Does anybody know how far away the zero fret is from the string guide notch and how deep the string guide notch is? Thanks, Kevin

I don't think it matter much as long as theres enough tension on the 0 fret and the strings don't move from position of course this is within reason .

Measurements of my Ranger are from the back of the zero fret to the front of the string guide is 3/16" and the string guide is set 1/8" in to the fret board.
I don't know if this is different on other guitars or not,but these are the measurements on mine.

hey kev,
without measuring, all of mine are roughly a quarter of an inch from the zero fret to the string guide. I've seen some mosrites (particularly 88 models) that were longer at times. also the depth is roughly 16th of an inch.

Does anybody happen to know the width of a half round string guide? I have the fretboard slots cut as well as where the zero fret is and where the string guide notch is but need to know the width so I don't cut off too much fretboard material. Thanks, Kevin

The one I just bought on ebay advertised as the Gene Moles Stock from the 60's measures 9/32" or a heavy 1/4" and the one on my Ranger is the same.
