These are a few photos I took of the most recent guitar I finished. The specifications are:

Maple body with center strip of amargo wood.
Amargo neck with rosewood fretboard. 25 inch scale.
Ebony headplate. Wilkinson EZ "lok" tuners
DiMarzio pickups
1 volume control with blend pot.
Wilkinson / Gotoh wraparound bridge.
Tried and True Danish Oil finish.

Nice!! I especially like those "minty" tuners and the bridge. What's it sound like?

Dennis, thank you for your kind comments. I'm kind of embarrassed to admit I haven't played it yet. It's still in my workshop, and I don't have an amp there. I hope to bring it home on Friday. I'll let you know, though.

This baby is very neat! I like the modest centre strip; kinda like a finishing touch to the whole design. I would like to see dot markers on the fingerboard if it was mine but that's a personal preference of course. Light natural honest wood always combines nicely with a black pickguard and pups. Great job Perry!

Thank you for your very supportive comments. The neck is glued into the body. The end of the neck tenon extends about halfway between the two pickups.

The center strip of amargo was not planned. I wish it was now because it does add to the guitar. A month or so after building the body, I noticed a failure in the glue joint at the end of the guitar body. It was about an inch deep into the back. I tried to re-clamp to close the separation, but that didn't work. I then tried to disguise it, and that looked even worse. As a last resort, I sawed the body in half down the center seam, jointed the two halves, and prepared a contrasting strip from the same type of wood as the neck. It glued up very well, but then I had to thickness the body again and rout the section of new wood from the pickup cavities. The re-thicknessing left the body a little thinner than I had intended.

I have just started to add face dots on fingerboards in building guitars. At first, I didn't have side or face dots on the neck, but realized that at least side dots were necessary if I wanted to sell the guitars I make. I agree face dots can add to the look of a guitar. I am currently working on a copy of a Fender Mustang that has face and side dots.

Yeah, don't forget big-builder Semie himself....with the "mistake plate" and all, in the pre-Ventures model

Let's also not forget that it must be only natural that Semie (and other great builders) had some bloopers too in their time...for whatever reason...The thing is they build so many guitars and their rejects are simply recycled or fed to the wood chipper (or fire in Semie's case -to keep him warm during winter ) whereas yours and mine -homebuilds- 'one-offs' have to be correct the very first time! Quite a challenge!(Hats off to you builders, I haven't built any myself .......yet )
