Hallmark bridge

Postby sleeperNY » Tue Mar 10, 2009 11:45 am

I remember some time back someone asking if the Hallmark bridge fits a Mosrite. I decided to try my Hallmark bridge on the Mosrite and it is a perfect drop in fit. I like it better than the bridge I got with my Mosrite parts. Looks like I will be buying another on to put back on the Hallmark. Mosrite bridge is on the Hallmark right now and the Hallmark bridge isn't coming off the Mosrite.

The only thing about the Hallmark bridge is, I wish they'd deburr the edges a little more. It can wear on the hand after awhile.

Jim,
Another possibility is to use Hallmark saddles on the Mosrite bridge base - that's what I did. You have to re-thread the Hallmark saddles but it worked out nicely.

Dennis, that bar behind the bridge saddles on Mel's guitar is a lock down bar. It was Semie's new invention. ;)

Danny, I never really understood what the heck that was about. I thought
that only locked the saddles down in order to keep the strings from rattling :| .

The bridge I got from Hallmark was the first generation style without the locking saddles, which was perfect for me as I didn't need the locking feature (or the added expense!) I wanted to use the Mosrite bridge base to have a more "Mosrite-y" look. The Hallmark bridge base is squared off on the ends like a Rickenbacker bridge.

Exactly, what function does the Bar behind the Bridge serve?? :?

It's a bit easier to see in the photo below, but the intonation screws are set into slots at the rear of the bridge, vs. holes in the front. Once the intonation is set, the bar pressed down on the screws, both keeping them from turning and also keeping the saddles firmly pressed against the bridge base. The intonation range is the same as on a vintage style Mosrite bridge; the bridge base plate is stretched on the rear to accomodate the locking bar.

OK, I just wanted to make sure; which goes back to my original post. What I am referring to are the ACTUAL Bridgepost screws (To raise or lower the Bridge). Those Bridgepost screws (in the PIC) have threads on the outer side of the screws themselves. And what I'm trying to describe, is that THOSE Bridgepost Screws are designed to have an Acorn Nut on them to "Hold down" or "Lockdown" the Bridge itself, so as to when using the Vib/Trem System, it 'will not rock' back and forth, thus putting the guitar out of tune or throwing the intonation out...........That is what is on my '88.....and "IT WORKS BEAUTIFULLY!!!!" ;)
