Danny, your bursts are beautiful. Very authentic. It's been great watching this instrument progress. Truly inspirational.

Dennis, down here we could only do something like this during winter when temps are lower and humidity drops. I've wanted to do some refin work (my '63 Jazzmaster project), but have no space in the house that would be appropriate for spraying nitro. I was thinking Reranch and the back patio (shady), but even in winter we have bugs galore. South Florida: heat, humidity and insects.

Hey Terry, or anyone familiar, can you advise what strings to use on the octave neck? I used some old mismatched strings I had in the junk drawer. I started with the A string and ended up using a 10 for the B and a 9 for the little E. Would mandolin and banjo strings be a better substitute. Those guitar strings are hard to bend playing blues licks on an octave neck.

Hey Danny. . . It's looking great!

I have been using Super Slinky's on the octave most of the time. 9-42. But on occasion have used Extra Slinky 8-38. The Extra Slinky give a little softer feel but you can also pull them out of tune with a tight grip. I think the same goes for any guitar with light strings. There was a time long ago when I had a custom list of Ernie Ball single strings but the packaged variety works just fine. Brian Lonbeck uses Super's. I'm not sure what Deke uses.

How's the project coming along Danny? I wasn't sure if you had completed it yet and had it assembled.

Holy Moley!!!

Danny, that is a work of art! Lovely sunburst and all the custom metal parts just gleam.

You must be very proud of your creation. Now box it up and send it to Jimmy.

Sensational! It looks just like a real Mosrite double neck (1963 or earlier) To me, I see you painted the headstocks in a nice sunburst too! If you don't mind could you please post a close up picture of one of the headstocks? :)
