I particularly liked your mold construction, and wondered how difficult it would be to mount a piece of pipe cut in half length-wise for a neck, and some kind of way-out headstock. The angle of the neck to the body would be tricky to get just so with welding...

The neck idea is interesting. Because of the flow of the resin, The mold would have to be poured and repositioned to accommodate the angles. Time would not be a problem as the resin will set up rather quickly.
It a fun project.

What models of Mosrite had the aluminum and wooden tailpieces ? They were made like the Dobro, but screwed to the top of the body rather then connected over the end ?

The tailpiece I'm talking about looked like this but was only 6 string. Which model was it mounted on ?

I think that tailpiece was used on several models. It's one of my favorites actually. It's easy to make. I have the materials if you'd like me to make one, or I can send you measurments, etc. if you want to make your own.

I would love for you to make one for me. 6 string of course. My string spacing at the Bridge is 2".
I was going to use a Bigsby style tremolo, but decided to go with the fixed tailpiece until I can afford to pop for the reproduction.

Let me know how long it may take to make and how much do you want for the part.

Do the 6 string version have 2 or 3 mounting screws ?

Hey, Dan--

I have one of those body-mounted tailpieces on my '67 Celebrity six-string and it has three screws.

That tailpiece was made by Bill Gruggett, not Semie Moseley, but it looks much like the Mosrite ones. My '72 Celebrity six-string has a stock tailpiece on it, much like the body-mounted ones, only it's attached via a trapeze.

The two tailpieces look similar to me.

Jim;
My Dobro has the trapeze version I really like the design, very simple but looks good.
Here is a photo of the corrected pick up cavity and the neck mounted.
The design of the Mosrite makes everything appear twisted and out of alignment, but I assure you everything is now where it belongs. The bridge is not in place, just sitting there.
