I did some practicing with the router and finally managed to get the neck pocket cut. I'm still looking for a reasonable price on a Hipshot D-style bridge because I'm not satisfied with how the self-made parts are looking. I can always use the Carvin bridge that they use with thie neck as plan B.

pretty cool. with the bridge you may want to be careful looking for one that gives you the correct neck radius. I refinished a body on a roscoe bass a while back and it had a similar pickup set up. the bridge on it was really nice to you could move it for intonation but also from side to side for string spacing. it was a 5 string as well.

olrocknroller wrote:The real critical item is the fit of the neck into the body... My approach would be to obtain the neck, then have the neck pocket custom-cut into the body. It has to be a snug fit, with the right angle to the body to help create the best resonance.

Would it be safe to assume, that having the string, and fretboard on the same plane be ideal. I don't for sure just asking ?
I don't know if this has been answered in this thread before so, sorry if it has.

I like the birds-eye maple! Nice...

I'm leaning toward Lake Placid Blue or whatever blue Mosrite used in 1965.

I think it was "Ink Blue".

For what its worth, I think the first bridge you made is awesome. I'd stick with it.

I like the looks of that one the best also. Unfortunately with the neck mounted the geometry is way off. If I could find some barrels that were shorter and smaller diameter I might make another version of that one. I think I've made 5 bridges so far!
