Could I ask a favor? Is there any chance you could post the dimensions of the tail piece and the centering of the holes drill in it?

a. Aluminum base plate, 3" long x 3/4" tall x 3/4" wide made of 1/8" aluminum 'L' or 'angle' stock.
b. string spacing, 1 13/16" center E string to center G string.
c. mounting screw spacing, 1 5/16" from center of two outside screw holes. Counter sunk I/16" below the surface.
d. String holes for the 'head' are 5/16" diameter, appear to be counter sunk at least 1/4" deep.
e. Strings holes appear to be 3/16" diameter.

This is so helpful, thanks a million! I ordered the angle already. I'll have to get my hands on a scrape of rosewood or something appropriately exotic! I also ordered some brass sheet and I'm gonna try to recreate my Mosrite bridge cover and then have it chrome plated. We'll see how that adventure goes!

Does anybody know how to polish aluminum? The stuff I used is pretty rough and want to smooth it up.

I finally strarted to drill and tap the saddles today but many of them I either drill too small and some I drilled too high so my holes didn't quite line up luckily I mad a bunch of the same size saddles. I'm thinking that if I made a jig of some type to get my holes to line up every time.

It's better to center punch the spot you want to drill so the drill bit doesn't 'walk' off center. I usually drill the stock material using a drill press and a small 'V' shaped cradle to lay the rod in as it keeps the drill centered allowing you to drill straight through. Also don't cut the matierial to lenght yet. Drill all six holes in a 10"-12" length of rod spaced accordingly then tap it before cutting it off. Then cut off each post individually and shape it to the proper dimensions both top and bottom with a hand file using a vise. That way you can 'try' it as you progress taking metal off the bottom where the string saddle sits in the bridge base keeping a tight fit.

Even if the holes in the base are too high or low, you can compensate for the differences as you 'try and fit' it. Don't forget to make the bridge saddles different heights to fit the curvature/radius of the fretboard. It's best to make a template of the fretboard curvature to use as a guide for the height of the string saddles.

Danny did you use 1" or 1-1/4" screws before you put the acorn nuts on? Because when I got the saddle mounted there's only like an 1/8" sticking out of the base plate.

I don't recall the length, but I did use my Dremel tool with a carbide cutter to shorten the screws. I used the sealed end acorn nuts so that when I tightened the screw it bottomed out tight on the screw with washer but still turned freely in the bridge base.

Are those nylon lock nuts or acorn nuts on that bridge?

Well today I got it looking like a real bridge but I still got some shaping and string notching to do.
