Is there any possibility that the 'roller' for the 'E' string might have some extra play in it? Another words, when you bend the 'E' string, could the roller be shifting towards the same direction that the string is being pulled, thus deadoning the note?
make the Mos' of it, choose the 'rite stuff.

and sometimes I've seen the magnet affect the string if the neck pickup is too close.

for the spring issue, a bigsby replacement spring may work, sometimes just using a longer spring is just as good as a thicker one. also, it's not the greatest fix, but if you can find a thick enough metal washer to place under the spring, this might help too. it's not the greatest fix, but it might work until you can find a better solution.
as for the fret and string bending issue, are you sure it's just higher then the 12th fret? sometimes it can be something silly, like if your frets are dirty and tarnished it can give you that issue as well. check that, and try cleaning the frets a little.

yeah, generally you want the neck pickup at the same height of the bridge pickup, or lower. it's all personal preference, but most people prefer the bridge pickup to have a slightly higher output then the neck pickup. and since you have a wider range of motion of the strings at the neck location, you have to compensate by adjusting the pickups accordingly.

I have never bought a guitar that I didn't have to work with to get it where I wanted it. Some need more than others but that is just part of it. Sounds like you had to work a little harder than most of mine but isn't it great when it comes together. Have a ball with the new Mosrite.

I got to agree with you Jim, I think most companies do a generic (or 'safe') setup and pretty much leave it up
to the new owner on how he wants to tweak it. And I strongly believe that is also part of the fun of setting up
your 'own personal guitar,' because you are putting the 'icing on the cake' with the final tweaking.'

P.S. Brunob, glad to hear you finally got her up and running ;) .

yeah, even american standard fenders are set up like crap from the factory. it seems like everytime I add a new member to the family, I'll take the whole guitar apart and build it back together to get it cleaned and set up to my specs.

:P
