did you use a regular bandsaw blade?

Yes, I have a 1/4 inch 6 T.P.I. blade that I keep on that saw. You'd need a thiner one for the top two or three guitar strings.

Well it's a pretty coarse grit, like 60 or 80 but it was old and almost worn out. I had to replace before I could use it on wood again. Also I should say something about cutting or grinding metal on woodworking tools. Brass and aluminum are relativly soft and don't spark but all of my machines are packed with highly flamable sawdust so be carefull.
