Thickness of tuner knobs?

Postby TheEHMan » Sun Aug 22, 2010 4:40 am

Back when I bought my '66 Ventures bass, it had 2 Grover tuners on it for the A and D strings. I was lucky enough to find some original duckfoot tuners at Angela Instruments for about $12 each. They look great and I recently got the correct original bushings from a seller on ebay (not shown in photo). The thing is, the 2 original tuners are noticeably thicker than the ones I got from Angela. Does anyone know when the thinner ones were used? I'd like to get a pair of thick ones to match the originals.

I think I've seen that before. It's possible that the tuners are just from different eras of manufacture or different suppliers.

Anybody have some thick ones to trade for a couple of thin ones?
