I used to think that, but not any more. My Celebrity and my Stradette have taught me otherwise.

Not to mention my '51 Reissue Precision bass.

As long as the pocket/neck are tight and fitted properly, it appears that there actually might be a mechanical advantage to a bolt-on neck.

Now, I am talking about electric instruments, though I have had some custom acoustic guitars with bolt-on necks that were wonderful. But they were not the same type of bolt-on neck arrangement we are talking about here.

I agree with you Jim. I prefer the bolt on neck as I can do a little shimming if necessary to improve the neck angle if need be.
