Celebrity Q's

Postby totalperformance65 » Fri Aug 07, 2009 3:28 pm

I recently purchased a Celebrity I (hopefully i've got that right, it's the deep bodied version). I was playing it a couple weeks ago, and it completely cut out. I pulled the control plate off and didn't see anything glaring. I checked to make sure all wiring was still attached and that the jack was making good contact with the cable. Oh, and I checked the cable too, and it's fine.

At any rate, i'm thinking that I miht be better off replacing the guts. In a previous thread the pot specs were discussed, but not for a celebrity. Does anyone know if these are 250K or 500K?????

Also, what replacement pickups are available for a Celebrity? I prefer humbuckers, if they're available.

I'm also thinking about adding individual tone and volume control for each pickup. Does anyone know where I might find a good wiring diagram for this setup?

Thanks in advance for all of your help!

Before you get radical with the p'ups, you might want to consider letting Eddy Elliott work his magic on the originals.

Jeremy,
Sounds like you're leaning more towards the 70s set up with the Humbuckers....
This was the set up for the 70s with Mosrite Humbuckers.....
