LOL... I have a copy of a Strat and a copy of a Mosrite. Now all I need is a copy of a Jazzmaster.

I've been toying with the idea of getting a Jazzmaster for a while .. What kind of sound - closer to a Gibson than a Fender?

My personal $0.02:
It uses special Jazzmaster single coil pickups but not like those on Strat, my opinion it is close to Fender Telecaster & Mosrite (punchier and darker tone)
Be aware of some Japanese made Jazzmasters which do not use the same Jazzmaster pickups (thinner pickups inside but with the big white JM pickup cover)
I have a Jazzmaster Custom Shop which is extremely nice.
If compared to Gibson, I think the ones have closer tone are 1956 Goldtop Les Paul (R6 with P90 pickups) and ES330 (also uses P90)
Hope this help.

Man, those would be great 'Refrigerator Magnets.'
P.S. I know Fender makes them, or at least they used to

Those Mosrite Mark I (Ventures) has always been my favorite guitar body shape. It's just flat sexy.

I think Semie may have made an outline of an upside down Strat AND and upside down Jazzmaster and mixed them up. Look at the Ventures model next to the top of a strat and bottom of a Jazzmaster:

I think Semie reversed the bout lengths...and the rest was all Semie. I really have never seen the Strat comparison. If you put a Mosrite along side a Strat, it is a much larger body with very little contour likenesses. JMO
