Little David Smith...Mosrite Factory Picture

Postby Deke Dickerson » Sun Feb 08, 2009 3:51 am

Little David Smith was another one of these gospel guitarists that Semie endorsed for a long time. I've got at least 5 different Little David Smith albums that feature Mosrites on the cover.

This album, however, features a photo from what appears to be the 1973-era incarnation of the "P" Street factory!!! Adam, John...stop drooling.

I wish I had a 12X12 scanner so I could get the whole album cover scanned. It's pretty cool to see all those Mosrites waiting to be finished and assembled. And what about the "antigua" burst Gospel in the front? I've never seen another like that one.

Little David is pictured with Semie on the back cover....gotta love the big wide white leather belt!

White patten leather belt & shoes. I remember that era. I was still in my "Redneck Hippie" stage, then. I couldn't me see dressing in patten leather.

But, I could see me dressed in one of those guitars. ;)

Deke,
David just sold one of his early Serenades' (if he had more than one) which had the glued in neck with the heel joint (not the screwed in neck version) not too long ago on E-Bay............
make the Mos' of it, choose the 'rite stuff.

Deke, you knows what I likes! That stack of Bluesbender bodies gets me every time. I used to have pics of a Gospel bass in the same antigua/goldburst finish. I think Semie must've saved this finish for special instruments, and resurrected it in the '80s for that short run of Gospel Encounters guitars.

Wow, an "antigua" finished Celebrity! It goes perfectly with the era. I bet Semie got the color idea from his avocado appliance furnished kitchen. I bet David bought his swanky duds at Sears.

Bryherb, that Antigua finish looks like what GE called "Harvest Gold".
As for David's wardrobe: We used to call that a "full-on Pat Boone."----White belt and white shoes.

Thanks Deke for the groovy gospel.
