In my old opinion Nokie was the most entertaining guitarist. Just "The Ninth Wave" is enough. A lot of talent out there but Nokie is in the top group. Eric who? I met Nokie, heard him play live just a few feet away from me, took pictures, got his autograph. I'm happy, and sad.

Very sad news.

Nokie was kind of like my guitar grandfather. I learned a lot of songs and guitar technique from listening to him, as well as Bob Bogle.
Even though I had never met the man, he was a part of my life.

Rest In Peace dear one.

Nokie's memorial will be held in Yuma on April 7th. It is anticipated that the church will be filled to overflowing... Memorial articles have been published in many newspapers and periodicals across the country, Notably the LA Times, and Rolling Stone magazine. His impact extends around the planet! Olrocknroller will be in attendance.

As I understand, Judy plans a viewing at the memorial, so would say that a burial will be performed.

The New York Times finally published an obit in its Tuesday, March 20 issue by an author, Richard Sandomir, who didn't have the decency to mention Mel
Taylor!

Added comment: What am I complaining about! None of the obits mention Mel and at The Ventures website the scrolling photos show everybody but Mel! And in the Rolling Stones obit page they show Mel in frames from videos and they have a side link to the "100 Greatest Guitarists" including a lot of unknowns but no Nokie! For shame.

We all know the history of The Ventures and, particularly, its different members. But without taking credit from any of the various musicians, to me the classical lineup was Don Wilson, Bob Bogle, Nokie Edwards, Mel Taylor. Now there is only one Ventures left, founder Don Wilson. With The Beatles there were contributing musicians but the Fab Four will always be remembered as The Beatles. Not so with The Rolling Stones.
