I have often wondered how they would have sounded on Mosrites. I have owned several Rics, and liked them, but not as much as a Mosrite.
I tended to go a little wild on the Ric basses I've had; something about that hi-fi sound they have. I was accused of playing "lead bass."
There are worse things. But I think a Ric influences your playing more than some other guitars might.

I'd guess less jangle, more twangle.

I think we're pretty lucky they didn't play Mosrites - have you seen what a Ric 325 costs?
Funny video, btw!

Re: PLAY THAT FUNKY MUSIC.....
I wasn't that thrilled with the Beatles...until I bought an album called "Chet Atkins Pick on the Beatles." When I heard that master interpret the Beatles' compositions, I gained a whole new respect for the talent that went into their musical creations. After that, I even went so far as to buy a James Last LP of Beatles tunes...
I have since seen it repeated several times, where the original artist gets outdone by a subsequent interpretation of their work. For example, listen to Nokie's interpretation of Chet Atkin's "Sails" and of Eric Clapton's "Tears in Heaven."
I know, I'm prejudiced, but IMHO, Nokie is the best modern music guitarist in the world. I have been privileged to listen to him play what he likes playing, and believe me, it is a huge step up from what he normally plays at shows. A jazz tune from Nokie's golden fingers is a whole new experience!

You're absolutely right there but it makes sense doing a lot of 'normal' stuff since a good portion of income is to be gleaned from that segment of the entertainment world.olrocknroller wrote:I have been privileged to listen to him play what he likes playing, and believe me, it is a huge step up from what he normally plays at shows. I do love everything Nokie puts his mind and fingers to on any fretboard but I especially owe him my gratitude for having woven his country pickin' skills into Rock 'n' Roll music

Having missed seeing the Fabs at the Gator Bowl on 09/11/64 due to a hurricane that wiped out our beach house and left me upset (I still have the $3.99 ticket), I took my wife and kids several years ago to see 1964: The Tribute.
They did the Beatles from the Hamburg days up until Sergeant Pepper. They had the clothing, guitars, amps, and attitudes down perfect. We saw them at a dinner theater place in Arlington, VA, and it was nice to drink beer and eat little pizzas and watch the show!
The only discordant note was during the Ed Sullivan-era set, when they wore the collar-less jackets. I kept feeling that something wasn't quite right. Then I realized that the problem was: The band was in color, and I had always seen that-era Beatles in black-and-white!
Great show and a wonderful experience. I spoke with the "John Lennon" player between sets and complimented him on how exactly they captured what I had heard of the Beatles live performances. His response was illuminating: "Hey; we've played this stuff a lot longer than the Beatles ever did!"
