Re: The Ventures old photo and music medley
Thanks Danny. That's wonderful!
As much as I love Nokie, I feel that the fans should give Gerry McGee more deserved credits. I only saw one photo of Gerry. Even Bob Spalding has more exposure here. I think Gerry should always be considered one of The Ventures. Gerry kept The Ventures going when Nokie left the band in late 60's and 70's.
BTW, Nokie and Gerry are good friends.

Re: The Ventures old photo and music medley
enjoyed that!
did anyone else listening also recognise a live version of "WHITTIER BOULEVARD"?!
I believe it's on the Japanese 1981 album "60's Pop" (Eastworld EWS-91012)
...love to get my hands on that!!!

You know? This is one of these experiences, that you go back and look at it a 2nd time,
and see stuff that you missed the 1st time around......Around the 3:01 marker on the VID,
did any1 notice Don Wilson signing the back of a White Mosrite, with a RECTANGULAR Neck Plate ?
It had to of been too early for Mosrite Copies at that time, so therefore I am just going to take
a shot at this and guess.....but, maybe a MARK II??

Yep, definitely an early Mark II. None of the Japanese copies ever had a neck plate quite like that.

I could see at least half a dozen pics of Gerry McGee.

That could be a Univox copy.

Re: The Ventures old photo and music medley
In general, there were some great pictures of the band playing live, especially in the 60s - the kind of pictures I was hoping to see more of in the "Walk Don't Run" book. Any idea where these came from? Are there other hidden caches of Ventures live photos?
Oy vey - it's MESHUGGA BEACH PARTY - The world's premier Jewish Surf Music Band!
