looking for ventures/surf style covers of jazz/movie tunes

Postby beenawhile » Fri Nov 19, 2010 3:32 pm

Hey all,

I am trying to expand my repertoire to include songs that have a jazz/lounge/60s-movie-soundtrack kind of feel.

Songs like:

Harlem Nocturn (Startones)
A Night in Tunisia (Cosmonauts)
Caravan (Ventures)
Hawaii 5 0 (Ventures)
Goldfinger (Stingrays, Slacktone)
Music to Watch Girls Go By (Satan's Pilgrims)

I am wondering if anyone on the forum can point me to guitar covers of similar tunes?

Thanks :!:

You may want to check out Freddie's Jukebox  http://jukebox.au.nu/

It has loads of stuff of a variety of Artists and (Instrumental) styles. Click on the "Go to" menu which displays "homepage" by default. It is possible to download the tunes here which are all monophonic -but at no charge!

You may also want to try  http://goran.tangring.com/ Lot's of tunes (many in <stereo>!) that you can download for free, also :P

Great ideas :!:

I did know about those too sites, but didn't realize there were so many surf/jazz albums at jukebox site. Very cool - I will be a frequent visitor.

I haven't played the Pink Panther in a while - or Mission Impossible either. Definitely worth revisiting.

I had never heard the theme from The Ipcress Files - that's cool.

And the Breeze and I is a fav for sure :D
