Any Jazz guitarist here?

Postby dubtrub » Mon Aug 09, 2010 10:24 pm

Is there a forum member that plays jazz guitar and knows the various modes and scales that I could correspond with as I have a few questions?

Danny, I'd PM Geoff Stich, aka Dr. Gretsch. He is very knowledgeable about modes and scales. He is a wonderful Jazz guitarist.

Yeah, I had to throw some Celebrity action in there!

Thanks, Sarah. Yeah I'm familiar with Geoff, however I was hoping to find an 'active' member on the forum with whom I would feel more comfortable imposing on. ;)
Geoff only stops by every year or so.

There's a ton of information there, plus you get an eBook (PDF) of basic jazz chords, scales and theory as soon as you join.

Or don't join and use mine. http://www.jazzguitar.be/files/The%20Ja ... 0eBook.pdf

Well, I hope the link works.

Yeah, I've been busy reviewing 9th, 13th and diminished chords, plus reviewing all the various scales. It's amazing what a rut I have gotten into and forgot so much that has been pushed to the back of my mind simply by playing fun things like constant improving. Time to hit the books again. Arpeggios, triads, Ionian and Dorian modes have become lost from my music vocabulary.

Just remember "I Don't Punch Like Muhammad A-Li" and you're good to go.
