I've heard many people say that. Yeah Nokie is my favourite picker also. Dillon, how fitting it is for you to have a "Nokie model" guitar! ;)

I wouldn't call my Dillion bass a "Nokie model" but it does carry a certain "influence" memorialized by THE VENTURES and since the lead guitar is the one most concentrated on, particularly in videos, his name comes first until Bogle is shown. I cannot access my memory bank dating to 1978 and my reason for selling my Mosrite instead of taking it to L.A. BIG regret! Ditto for my Maphis model. Who knew?!

Are you enjoying your new bass?

Hey Bob ("Dillion"), please forgive me  ...I realise that I have confused you with our other member "DILLON"!!!
He's the lucky chap who is (oficially) the new owner of that awesome CAR "Nokie model" guitar!

Yes, I love my new bass..and I've married her up to an Ampeg BA-115 bass amp (without the hiss!) that I've bought the other day! Yep, many of us here have regret stories too, so don't feel alone...hope you enjoy your bass too ;)

I don't think he has an instrumental album, but he is a great guitar player.

Here's Vince Gill

wait for about 2 1/2 minutes in on this one for some chicken pickin'

Love his clean leads and speed.....he was on "Live by Request" once, and people call in to request the artist to play something.....well, Chet Atkins called in to request Vince to play "Borderline", and he did.....wow.....such speed with no mistakes...
These 2 are my favorite lead players.......... 8-)

Yes! Vince Gill is totally underrated, in my humble opinion. ;)

Is there an album that you recommend where he plays more than he sings? Has he made any instrumental albums?

Bob.....One of my favorite Vince Gill CD's is "Souvenirs".......he plays "Oklahoma Borderline" on "The Essential" CD ......he usually plays some lead on most all of his songs...I just can't seem to get enough of his playing....such clean licks and lightning fast, tastefully played....

Great talent also, picker Vince Gill. Thanks for posting those excellent vids Sarah. What I do on a guitar pales into insignificance when I hear such talents :?

Different Dillon :D But I see you realized that. Funny. I too think Nokie is one of a kind, though.

Albert Lee & Vince Gill - "Tiger Rag": Man, is that hot stuff! Everybody's smoking! Great keyboard player, superb violinist! I love bluegrass!

If you like "real" country music give a listen to the Louvin Brothers but particularly in "A Tribute to the Delmore Brothers", an album released in 1960 with acoustic guitar picking by Charlie Louvin and especially by Jimmy Capps. The Delmore Brothers were country music pioneers and stars of the Grand Ole Opry in the 1930s.

You can hear Brad Paisley do some nice picking in "Ticks"

Great clip. He sure is a talented performer! He reminds me of my little brother sometimes.

Here is a neat lil video of Nokie playing Walk Don't Run and then answering a few questions on the show TNN in 1996:

Audio is a bit bad during the song but the interview comes in fine

I was thinking the same thing! Cowboy hat, buckle and boots with surf music. My eyes and ears were totally disjointed!
