Compared to later Ramones shows, Johnny sounded very twangy, and exploited the sound on his version of 'California Sun' in particular. Dig the flare pants. His shoes came untied early in the show, and stayed that way. Years later in the eighties when we opened for them, a roadie would scuttle out and tie his shoes while he played. Eventually he wore stretch sneakers. Try to imagine the instant shrieking feedback when he hit his on/off switch and DeeDee yelled "Wha-too-thee-foh!"
