I find myself often perusing Japanese guitar sites. Unfortunately, I can't read Japanese, so I look for the few English words, and numerical specs to sort of get a notion. I know I'm missing out on lots of cool stuff otherwide.
So, I need to learn Kanji, right?

Kanji is only one third of the written language, in addition to two syllabaries. In fact, the key word you are looking for in the description, "refinish," isn't even written in Kanji.

You will have a very hard time getting any Japanese shop to respond to an English language inquiry, let alone do business overseas.

The 12-string looks to be the original Candy Apple Green. The 6-string is a refinish, as I stated before (this issue is not up for debate, it is clearly stated in the description).

Bit of a photo dump. Some may have been posted already but, Hey.

Photo of the MK V that Ricky used (Does anyone know its serial number?):

Image

Photo of Ricky playing a sunburst MK I or Ventures model, This one's rather common:

Photo of Ricky playing the MK V with bass strings on it for Rock Lobster or Dance This Mess Around:

From a photoshoot in style of a Ventures album cover:

Photo of the whole band, Ricky holding what I think is a 1970s MK I. I spy duct tape, Much like was on his MK V. Were strap locks available then? I tried to put some on my Ventures II but the screws were too small.

I sent Keith Strickland a message on Facebook, asking about the guitars Ricky used.
