Trivia: Blue Star

Postby LOSTVENTURE » Wed Sep 23, 2009 9:03 am

I was listening to some of the original Ventures albums (those big round, flat, black thing with the little hole in the middle) when I stumbled onto "Walk Don't Run '64. The last cut is thier version of "Blue Star" which the album notes is the theme from an early doctor's TV show named "Medic".
Now, how many of you can remember the guy who played the starring roll on that TV show.

Don,
That would be Richard Boone, before he became Paladin in Have Gun Will Travel.

Strat-o-rama, you nailed it. My first hint was going to be "Have Gun Will Travel", one of my favorites by the way. Also I'm thinking that I might not be the oldest player here.

Funny; I don't remember the show, but I vividly remember the Mad (then a comic book) parody of it.

Bill Elder was the artist, if I remember correctly, and drew a great image of a perplexed Richard Boone trying to figure out what a certain surgical instrument was.

Coincidentally, not to mention totally off-thread, before I left home for college, I had collected every Mad magazine from 1954, which I found on a street (profound, no?) up untill 1966. The first week that I was out of the house my mother tossed the entire collection because she need the space in my old closet.

Never tried to pick out "Blue Star," but 'thinking "Have Gun..." might be a late night, "Let's see if..." after dinner and walking the dog.
