Mike Campbell in a surf band???

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it before, but Mike Campbell (T. Petty & Heartbreakers), has one of the best surf bands around, "The Blue Stingrays". Tom occasionally lets him cut loose with a surf groove, as in the YT video above. Yeah, I know it's a Jaguar, but just think what he could do with a Mosrite ..........

Yeah, he also did "Apache' on a vintage White Jaguar, but of course
now that I'm looking for it on youtube, it's nowhere to be found  .
make the Mos' of it, choose the 'rite stuff.

Yeah that was a little dry, wasn't it? On the Blue Stingrays album he uses lots of reverb, though.

It must be pretty unforgiving if you're asked to play Surf without the reverb (preferably a '63 Vintage Fender outboard  )

...Mike did a superb job nonetheless ;)

Mike regularly plays the Pearl White '65 Mark 1 with his alter ego band "The Dirty Knobs". It's his bar band! They play close to home (LA/Ventura) when he's not involved with a TP project.

Man, that would be great if any of our members living in the area could get some photos
of Mike playing his Pearl White '65 and add to our "Mosrites in Action" Thread.

Dennis,
I remember seeing pics of Mike playing the White 'Mo with The Dirty Knobs, but can't find them. He and Jason Sinay, the other guitarist/vocalist, are real gear hounds, and likely to play just about anything vintage; Fenders, Gibsons, Gretsches, Rickenbackers; Mike even drags out an old Paul Bigsby.
