Well, I hit my favorite "SEARCH" Button and couldn't find anything mentioned on the Forum about this. I do recall that he did play an 'ACOUSTIC' (from Acoustic Control Company), and I had heard he owned a Doubleneck Mosrite which no PICS have surfaced as of yet, but did anyone discuss this mentioned on a certain website??
Mosrite Factoid
Did you know that Jimi Hendrix owned and used a Mosrite guitar for many years. He also had a doubleneck Joe Maphis Model. We don't know for sure how many times he used it to record with. But The Rock N Roll Hall of Fame is displaying the one he recorded Spanish Castle Magic on. I can hear what sounds like a Mosrite on several of the songs on Axis Bold as Love. Dana Moseley told me she met Jimi when she was just a little girl. She told me he was the first time she had ever seen a black person.

I knew about the double neck as well, but as for recording Spanish Castle Magic with a Mosrite
Anyone been to R&RHOF to actually see this Mosrite on display?

I've seen the guitar, it used to be at the "Experience Music Project" museum in Seattle when they had a special Hendrix exhibit. I think the provenance of him owning it is fairly conclusive (I can't remember who owns it now, but they have proof it was Jimi's) but there are no photos of him playing it.

It's just about the funniest collision of two worlds imaginable, though. Joe Maphis guitar used by Hendrix. ha!

Deke,
Which Model is it? A single neck Joe Maphis?

No, it's a Joe Maphis 12/6 doubleneck. I want to say it's pearl white, but my memory is for crap these days.

Thanks Deke, I knew you would be back here with the answer. The only confusing thing to me is,
according to that so-called "Mosrite-Factoid," where it says with the opening sentence,
"Did you know that Jimi Hendrix owned and used a Mosrite guitar for many years.
He also had a doubleneck Joe Maphis Model."
It makes it sound as though he had a single neck as well..........???
A bunch of us knew about the Doubleneck although there are no pix  .

hey,

I seen this guitar myself. it was a joe maphis 6/12. I remember the finish being very yellowed, so deke is probably right, it being a pearl white model that has yellowed over time. as far as I know, jimi only used it to record with.

Duh, I didn't read the post earlier. If he had a second one I have no clue what it was. Maybe Dana would remember if somebody sees her to ask.

She's on board with the Forum, but we haven't heard a peep out of her, although
we know she's very busy trying to get those Mosrites put together.... ;)
