Nice photo's of the original 4 members from the period. There's a story behind that beautiful Precision Bass that Bob Bogle bought off Red Rhodes.
Read all about it in the Ventures Book on page 241  ........http://books.google.nl/books?id=8KsyZ0W ... ey&f=false

It will require some patience though, it takes a while for the pages to upload :?

That is Don Wilson. Compare my photo to the one of Harvey at http://tedgreenebookeditions.com/photoa ... als/hw.jpg a world of difference! Don is better looking. :-) You can see Don in 1981, same year as my photo, at http://www.gettyimages.com/detail/74912 ... um-Archive

Thanks, I can see now. When did Harvey tour with The Ventures? I know he was with them in 1982.

Allow me to rephrase that... I know Harvey toured with The Ventures in 1982 but how long was he with them?

Thanks. I forgot to mention that the photos are digital copies of 4"x6" emulsion film photos of which I took 11. I posted only 4 'cause that's what I uploaded at my Flickr page. I can upload the other 7 and show them here.

That was an interesting chapter on Bob Bogle's bass. But, frankly, my opinion is that with that bass, Bob took a step down. I call it a trad-bass. Nothing desirable or attractive about it. Doesn't compare with a Mosrite. I wonder if he got it because he was becoming more "muscular" in his playing and tone as opposed to the "placid" classics. The photos seem to indicate him becoming the musical force he became famous for.

In the Pipeline songbook, there are some interviews with Bob, Don, Mel, and Gerry and in Bob's he says that after Mosrite he did alot of experimenting with basses to find one that he liked playing before he stuck with whichone one he ended up with. In the end he was playing an Aria/WB though.
