Being a drummer that kinda picked up guitar sort of late in life I'm generally a bar chord dummy and mostly self taught. Some things I tend to play along to are Duane Eddy, Link Wray, X (Billy Zoom), MC5, Slade, Chuck Berry, Real Kids, Eddie Cochran, and various pop sounding stuff from the 70's. When it comes to working on leads and stuff I lean towards the older rock and roll, country, and rockabilly stuff. I wish I could play like Cliff Gallup.

It's just that Akkerman 's band Focus played some of the most melodic instrumental music of the early 70's.
