I got word from CJ Ramones guitarist that CJ's Mosrite bass that he designed with Fillmore was stolen in Japan. It wasn't the one he had at the very end of the Ramones in the I Don't Want to Grow Up video. That one was made for him by Semie & he sold it after the Ramones retired. He had one designed by Fillmore & it can be seen on youtube with Bad Chopper & his solo act.

Just thought I'd fill in the group on that. I think that really sucks & I hope the jerk that stole it gets electrocuted.

Well, GTSP, you did a smart thing by posting that terrible news on this forum, because there are some sharp-eyed folks here who may be able to spot that bass if it is offered for sale.

I cannot imagine someone being low enough to steal an instrument, much less one owned by a working musician.

I said guitarist, it was his drummer that told me about it, not his guitarist. That would kick butt if it got recovered.

I agree Jim...it's really low when someone steals your instrument.....I read in the Ventures' biography that Nokie had something like 15 Mosrites stolen from his home while he was away on tour.....and that his bass was stolen by someone during the time when another bass player was filling in for him...I think it was stolen from a vehicle.......makes you sick to your stomach........

It really stinks when a guitar is stolen. Aren't there small GPS chips you can put in your guitars to locate them if they are stolen?

Yes they do. The only problem is not all music stores want to get inolved. They don't want to deal with someone freaking out in their store, going to court, or dealing with the police. The best thing one can do is to keep accurate records of all the gear and get it insured. I am surprised CJ would tour with it considering what airlines do with guitars. Keith Streng of the Fleshtones lost his Fender Mustang a few years ago (he had it before the band formed and been his main axe forever while touring. The airline lost it

That really sucks! One of my first guitars was a 1963 Guild Polara, the model with the built in stand on the back. It was the best solid body electric I've ever played. I had it for about three years and my sister brought home some guy from a band that was playing in town and the guitar disappeared. I've never seen another just like it. :x People who do this have no concept how much that affects the musician.

I got a reply from CJ about his bass. Here is what he said:

"Thanks for the offer to help with the bass. The serial # is 000cj. It's white with a black pick guard and a Strummerville sticker with the Rasta colors. It also has my signature on the headstock."

Hope something comes of this. Thanks again.

--The sticker & maybe even the signature could be removed, but the serial number would be tough to change. Anyways, I know it may be a shot in the dark, but let's hope it turns up.
