As an enthusiast of "fine" lowbrow Polynesian-pop culture...
...and daughter has just moved out with the result of her former bedroom magically transforming into a music room, some earnest research was done in back issues of "Tiki Magazine" for sources of decour and ideas for layout, theme, etc...most of which were not used. So decour will be Tiki-lite.
However...
...in two issues, the "surf-punk" rocker Laramie Dean is shown with a black Ventures model, and well-known / loved / respected lowbrow artist, "Shag" (Josh Agle) is photographed with a sunburst.
How cosmic hip is that?

Aargh! 'Should have known someone would ask to see Laramie and Shag with their Mosrites.

Re: Tiki Mosrites
Elliot Easton (lead guitar in The Cars, for those living in a cave) has a project going called Elliot Easton's Tiki Gods. Great line up of talent in the band. All instro, playing surf , spy, movie/TV themes and lounge. His main guitar: his pearl white The Ventures (Mark 1) lefty custom ordered back in the 80s. They recently gigged in LA and got great reviews. There are some pics around of Elliot playing his white Mosrite.
Kitschy Tiki Culture and Mosrite are a natural fit. It's more than the looks. That fat, plunky twang associated with Mosrites seems to lend itself to the musical stylings.
BTW, Laramie seems to have landed a Fender endorsement deal, so the Mo' has disappeared from the stage.

It's also hard to believe the Cars first hit was more than 30 years ago
