Guitar cables

Postby dubtrub » Sun Dec 07, 2008 9:33 pm

What's your favorite guitar cable? I picked up a Live Wire Elite at Guitar Center yesterday. They say it has a life time warrantee. It was a toss up between the Live Wire and Monster cable. At $37 they sure aren't cheap.

I use Monster cables - low noise at a mid-range price ...

It's kind of a toss between CBI cables or Monster cables.

I've been using Evidence cables - pricey but not as pricey as some others like Analysis Plus. My friend who owns a shop was doing A-B tests with the Analysis Plus and some other cables. The difference in tone was definitely noticeable. But I can't bring myself to pay $100+ for a guitar cable. The Evidence cables are in the $60 range - a little extravagant but I was in a splurging mood when I got them - I have a pair. Plus Guitar Player rated them highly in they're guitar cable round-up. I might try the Planet Waves next time as they were also rated well and are more reasonably priced.

OK, I give up. Where do you get them for $9.50?

What about Live Wire?

Musicians Friend has them at a reduced price of $9.50. How do they compare?

I would use monster, but I can't justify spending that much money on a freakin cable. I use CBI patch cables for my pedals, and a planet waves cable for my guitars. the planet waves has a mute button attached to the jack, so it makes changing out an instrument easy on stage.

i know this is an old thread, but i was always a fan of the colored braided dimarzio cables. they had switchcraft jacks, and never ever failed on me. the sound was good too.

lately, though. i've been building my own cable. we get mogami at my work, and neutrik ends. so i just order a few extra and make my own when i need.
